Dior Amber Diamond Dupe??!!

If you read my post on Dior Amber Diamond, you’ll know that I’d been lusting after it for ages! THEN someone tells me that the E.L.F. Golden Bronzer (that I showed in a recent haul video) was a dupe for it! I was a little skeptical to say the least so I thought I’d put it to the test!
LEFT: E.L.F. Golden Bronzer, RIGHT: Dior Amber Diamond

Purely by looking at the two, I really didn’t think they would be dupes. There are SOME similar shades, but the Dior bronzer seems to have a lot more bronze & a lot more light shimmery shades than the E.L.F. one.
As far as main differences between the two (besides the MASSIVE price difference) the first thing I noticed was the texture. The E.L.F. bronzer has almost a gummy texture. Kind of hard to explain, but you can sort of see the part in the middle that has gone a bit funny. Doesn’t really affect the way it looks, but something to keep in mind when you apply it.
And now let’s just stare at the beauty that is Dior Amber Diamond. It’s always nice to have a bit of a more luxurious product. The powder is extremely fine, easily blendable & I really like the fact that you can select certain shades out of this bronzer ie. ONLY the white shade. So are they truly DUPES?

*Both of these swatches are of the ENTIRE product (all swirled together)*
I have to say I was extremely surprised at how similar these two products are. I was NOT expecting it! To me the Dior is a bit more bronze-y, but not really by much. It is a bit more reflective than the E.L.F. one, though. To me, this is a pretty good dupe! If I would have known how similar these two were, I’m not sure if I would’ve bought the Dior bronzer. Who am I kidding, I probably would have. But I think if Dior Amber Diamond is a touch out of your reach, the E.L.F. Golden Bronzer is an excellent way to go!

In the UK, you can buy E.L.F. products here!

Wow, the elf dosen’t look like a bronzer! But it is a really good option for cheaper. I don’t use bronzer but i want to try it out, so i might purchase this one

    Great post!

always lovely to have a luxurious product though like you say! Would have to check out the Elf texture for myself – gummy needs experimentation :p xxx

WOAH! Very simular indeed! I will definitely try the elf version given its price!

    Thanks for the heads up!

Brilliant post! Can’t believe how similar these are. Is it just me that would definitely buy the Dior over the Elf product simply because of the luxurious feel of the product? I just love high end makeup too much and even though these are clearly scarily similar I’d still go for the Dior any day. Was that swatch using the whole Amber Diamond ‘palette’ or just the bronzey shades? xx

Wow, they are so similar! You wouldn’t think so just by looking at them both side by side. But then again, the Dior Amber Rose looks so pretty in the pan…

Ooh I’ve wanted the Dior for ages! Just ordered the Elf to give it a whirl :)

I have to say from what I read and hear I’m liking ELF more and more. I don’t have a single product yet because the shipping to Austria from Germany is ridiculous, but I definitely want to purchase some of their products once I see them in some store abroad!

Oh! The Elf one looks good! I really love Dior, so I’d probably by the ELF one and then when I could afford to buy the Dior one just because their products are so Lush! Thanks for the review x

ELF products really impress me sometimes, but like all brands I guess there are some items that can be a bit hit and miss. But this looks like a nice product… I find the studio line better than the £1.50 line from experience.

This is a very good dupe but I am such a sucker for a luxurious compact and I live the extra shimmer in the Dior one! I am useless with budgeting, it never works haha xxx

Wow,I have the elf bronzer and I had no idea it was supposed to be a dupe of the ridiculously expensive dior one…good to know :)

Awesome! Thanks so much. I already have the ELF one so I don’t need the Dior. I am wondering, though, if the Physicians Formula Pearl Glow Bronzer is also a dupe. Do you know?

I have the elf bronzer, and I bought it expecting it to be a bronzer without really looking at the colors or the swatches, but it’s so light on me that I use it as a cheekbone highlight…all the elf products do that funny bit in the middle after a while, I don’t think it makes any difference :) never realized this was a dupe for the amber diamond though!

Good post. :) The Dior bronzer looks more peachy or terra cotta to me and the elf one looks a bit more brown.
