There comes a time in every makeup hoarders life, when you realise that there are a few makeup items in your drawers that have been unloved and it’s time to bid them farewell. I’m sure lots of you can relate to my struggle with letting things go- “That’s Stereo Rose! Evvverryyone talks about it!”, but enough is enough. The other day I was in the mood to clean and I thought the first place to tackle should be my makeup table. Gone are the days of keeping makeup that doesn’t suit me and that I don’t use.
Here are a few products I’m saying goodbye to:
MAC MSF (Stereo Rose)-£22
I fell to the hype of this one long ago, but since day one it didn’t look good on me. I think in my original review I said it made me look like a lobster and I still stand by that statement. I can make it work if I apply it very strategically, but the fact of the matter is I don’t wear it…ever.
I can’t seem to find this on the MAC UK website, so perhaps it was limited edition?
Stila Smudge Pot (Kitten)-£13.00
I am such a lover of Stila’s powder eyeshadow in the shade Kitten, but unfortunately this cream base didn’t tick all of the boxes for me. I found it dry, clumpy and hard to apply evenly all over the eyelid. Such a shame because I love the colour!
N07 Lipliner (Nude)-£6.75
There was once a phase in my life where I wanted to get that hot Kim Kardashian nude lip. I’ve since learned that nude lipstick does NOT look good on me. I’m shocked that I’ve kept this lip liner for so long! N07 do great lipliners though and they’re even better when you have a £5 off voucher…am I right?
Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation (Soft Ivory )-£33.00
I’m sure lots of you are gasping for air right now. Yes…I’m getting rid of my Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. It seems like everyone loves this stuff, but it just doesn’t work for me! It makes my skin feel itchy and clings to my dry patches like no other. Not my desired look.
I really wish I loved this stuff.
Revlon Matte Lipstick (Wine Not)
After the nude lipstick phase, I went straight for the vampy look. There was a time when this was one of my favourite lipsticks, but it’s not my style at all anymore. I tend to go for bright rather than dark, so I’m afraid it’s goodbye. (These matte lipsticks are available on eBay for a very low price!)
So what do I do with this perfectly good makeup?
I usually give it away to friends, relatives or donate it to a charity like Give and Makeup.
When is the last time you did a makeup clear out?
