I’m usually not one to shy away from light-reflecting products-especially shimmery eyeshadows and cheek highlighters. But for the past week or so, I’ve been pushing my shimmery companions aside and going for a more matte approach. I can’t seem to fully commit though and always end up wearing a shimmery gloss just to balance everything out. In the photo above I’m wearing one of my new Almay Balm Gloss in Apricot Pucker, which I’ve been obsessed with!
Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Finishing Powder-£12.00
Judging from the huge amount of product I’ve used up you can probably figure out that I love this powder. It’s wonderful for keeping shine down, doesn’t look caked on and lasts a very long time on my skin. Highly recommend.
Mii Bronzing Trio (Treasure)-£23.50
Instead of blush, I wanted to wear something neutral. This bronzer from Mii has a gorgeous pattern embossed into it, but what I was most curious about was the shade. Unlike most orange-toned bronzers, this one is actually more red/terracotta. It may not give me the look of instant holiday, but it brings life to my face in a very natural way. According to the website, the white shade is supposed to have some iridescence, but I can’t say I agree. It’s kind of similar to the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Naturals because while it’s matte, it’s not FLAT-but it’s definitely not shimmery.
Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette-£20.00
Ahh, the old standby product. If I could only have one eyeshadow palette it would most likely be this one because I get so much wear out of it. Today I used a bit of Painterly Paint Pot by MAC as a base and then mixed together a few of the shades from the palette for a very basic look.
What do you think of matte makeup?
Should I fully commit and do a matte lip instead or is it better to have a bit of a mix?
