I’ve been wanting to visit Columbia Road Flower Market for wayyyy too long. Isn’t it funny how once you actually live in a city you never get around to doing the things you would have done on a one week holiday? I’m making an effort to go DO STUFF and of course the flower market was at the top of my list! For some reason I imagined this market to be huge, but in actuality it’s just one rather cramped street. Bordering the street are around 60 independent shops ranging in objects from art to baked goods to clothing etc.
All of the sellers were absolutely lovely and as you can see I was particularly fond of one man. Aslan was taking my photo and he said, “Wait there! I’ve got something that’ll make a great photo!” He finished up his sale, came back with what seemed like hundreds of peonies and proceeded to pose. It put a huge smile on my face and the rest of the market go-ers were loving it too!
If you feel like grabbing yourself a cute cactus or some gorgeous (relatively reasonably priced) flowers for your home I highly suggest you take a trip to Columbia Road. It’s only open on Sundays and there WILL be a crowd. Make a day of it and enjoy yourself!
Have you ever been to Columbia Road Flower Market?
Let me know what else I should put on my DO SOMETHING list!
