It seems like we’re all striving for that ‘glowy complexion’…well at least I am. My skin is naturally pretty dull looking, so injecting a little faux radiance is a quick way to give my skin a bit of perking up. You’ve probably noticed that all of the above products are cream finishes, which are great to mix into your foundation or add on top of finished makeup. I also use powder highlighters, but I find that cream products give a more natural ‘lit from within’ sort of look.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Illuminating Moisturiser-£10.00
An oldie, but a goodie. About 3 years ago I exclusively used this moisturiser in the morning because it adds such a gorgeous pink/purple iridescence to the skin. It’s amazing under foundation, but applying this on no-foundation-days gets you a great result in one simple step. Because this is a less concentrated form of ‘radiance’ it’s the most fool-proof and subtle of the four products mentioned in this post. Highly recommend!
Rouge Bunny Rouge Highlighting Liquid (Sea of Tranquility)-£34.65
Ringing in at the top end of the price spectrum, this really is an example of getting what you pay for. It has the finest shimmer particles out of the selection and mixes into foundation like it was made for it (no matter which foundation you’re using). They’ve got three different shades: Sea of Clouds (a white, pearly colour for brightening complexion), Sea of Showers (a honeyed white gold for a luminous golden glow all year round) and Sea of Tranquility (above), which is a pale, milky opal shade. Did I mention it smells like peaches?
MAC Lustre Drops (Pink Rebel)-£18.00
Compared to the others, Pink Rebel is actually more on the peachy side of things rather than the purple/iridescent side. I don’t like to mix this one into my foundation because the texture is a bit chunkier(?), but it’s great to apply as a cheek highlighter on top of my regular makeup. Cream highlighters are always extra nice looking because they dry into the skin and it looks more natural. Lustre Drops also come in a golden shade called Sun Rush.
The Body Shop Radiant Highlighter-£12.00
Radiant Highlighter is very similar to the Vitamin E Illuminating Moisturiser mentioned above, but much more concentrated. It’s also similar in colour to the Rouge Bunny Rouge Highlighter, but more subtle on the skin. Lovely product-I’ve been using this one to highlight the bridge of my nose, forehead and cheekbones.
