FOTD: Return of the Liner

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt feels like years since I’ve had the desire to bust out some cat-eye liner, but with the discovery of a new product I find myself wanting to line my lashes everyday. This look has been my go-to makeup routine so far this month and features some old and new products.

BASE:

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation ‘1.0’-£27.00
This is one of the newer products, but it was only a matter of time before I bought the Naked Skin Foundation to go along with all of my Naked Palettes. Gotta complete the collection right? Urban Decay describes this as a luminous demi-matte finish, which feels weightless on the skin. After reading more about it online I already knew this would make its way into my top favourite foundations…if it worked that is. So…did it work? YUP. It’s light, gives just the right amount of coverage and is build-able if you need it to be, illuminating and natural looking-it ticks all of the boxes. More on this soon…

Concealer-wise I went with my tried, tested and true NARS Creamy Concealer in Vanilla to cover up any blemishes and the L’Oréal Lumi Magique Concealer in the shade light for under my eyes.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural ‘Light’-£22.00
Here’s an oldie, but a goodie! I used to swear by this powder because it’s matte without looking flat (a little phrase I used to say when talking about this powder). I’ve really been falling back in love with it.

Anastasia Brow Wizz ‘Medium Ash’-£15.50
I gave this one the award for best brow product in my 2013 Beauty Favourites, so you know I love this shizz…get it? Shizz rhymes with Brow Wizz?

CHEEKS:
I always like to use The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in ’01’ to add a little life to my complexion. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again…if you are fair skinned you NEED this bronzer.

theBalm Blush ‘Frat Boy’-£16.00
theBalm is fast becoming one of my favourite makeup brands and I’ve been loving their Frat Boy blush lately. I’ve blogged about it many times before, but it really is the perfect pink/peach blush.  Topped off with a little Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter and you’re good to go.

EYES

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner ‘Intsense Black’-£13.00
I mentioned this liner in my recent Sephora Beauty Haul & since then I have used it every.single.day. This is *dare I say it* the best liquid liner I have ever used? Hell, I’m tempted to say it’s the best liner I’ve ever used full stop! What makes this so amazing is that it’s precise, VERY black, user-friendly and seriously does not come off. I applied this once at 7AM, was out in the rain, doing household chores, out for dinner etc. and it looked just as good at midnight as it did in the morning. I like to add a bit of the Milani Liquid Eye Pencil in my waterline for extra boldness.

I’ve really been loving the Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara because it layers up really well and gives intense volume. I also like to use the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara for more precise mascara application to the bottom lashes.

*I forgot to photograph my lip product which was the Maybelline Colour Elixir in Captivating Carnation. Read more about my obsession with the Elixirs here! And clearly this photograph was taken pre-eyebrow threading appointment…

Do you wear liner everyday?
What beauty products have you been wearing lately?

I adore the Stila eyeliner too. I have worn it every single day since I got it back in November. I was never an eyeliner person before I discovered this and I fully agree about staying power. I have extremely oily eyelids and yet this eyeliner manages to last all day for me.

Estee, I am absolutely obsessed with Frat Boy. I use it every day, and I’m not sure that I’ll ever use another everyday blush again. I just love opening the packaging and dusting that happiness onto my face on the daily. It cheers me up because it looks so rosy and beautiful.

Oh my god, I’ve become one of those people that gets emotionally attached to makeup. What kind of life is this?!?!

Anyway, that liner looks stunning. Your wings look so sharp that you could totally slash the haters if you wanted to.

  • Amber Hunter

The liner suits you so well! It defines your eyes so nicely. Funnily enough, I *literally* just did a post on “rediscovering my love of winged liner*. As the title suggests, I’ve definitely gotten back into winged liner!

I used to be such a sucker for eyeliner as it’s so easy to quickly apply an upper lash line flick and be good to go for the day! However, I’ve been reaching more for brown eyeshadow as a liner or a shimmery brown pencil at the minute. I find that it’s more natural looking whilst still emphasising my lashes. It also means that when I use it for a night time look it is more stand out! :-)

Uh oh, I’ve been wanting to buy that Stila eyeliner for such a long time and this has tipped me over to just get it! I also love that Body Shop bronzer, have had it for almost two years, (how’s that hygiene wise haha!) I use it regularly and it’s hardly got a dent, great value and fab product for paleys! http://ailishgoes.blogspot.de

  • Abby Connigale

I literally do not leave the house without eyeliner! I don’t always wear a flick but I’m always wearing liner since I have quite small eyes and I find that lining them makes them appear bigger. This look really suits you!xx

I’m always so dubious of pen style liners, I worry they’ll drag my eye I’ve tried to many rubbish ones, plus I have a real unsteady hand I tend to opt for pencils so I can smudge it out if all else fails this one looks really nice though…I haven’t tried much make up from Stilla.. X

Your eyebrows look fine. You are so stunning! Love the look and that you take all the time to write everything out.

I first found out about the Stila liner from watching chrissstttiiine’s “what’s in my make-up bag” video: http://youtu.be/FH0N4zgZPQM?t=1m29s

Many people complain that the pen dries out, but I was able to use mine for almost a year without trouble. You just have to use the cap to pump the product into the tip. Christine demonstrates in the video I linked.

I can still use it now, it just takes a bit more work and I have to clean up the flick with a q-tip.

  • NoOvernightGuests

I actually started wearing liquid liner more after I figured out how to get the look I want. Before, I would try to get the line right, mess up and fix it ten times and then get so disgusted I would not try again for like a week. So dramatic.

I’d like to make Tarte cheek stain my new beauty product. I do not wear liner everyday. I try to make the perfect mini cat eye and it doesn’t always turn out. I’ve tried a few tricks to help but it’s more of a practice thing. I have used Marc(er) by Marc Jacobs beauty. It does stay put. I’ve considered NARS liquid liner but saw reviews saying that it doesn’t stay on as well as they hoped. Have you tried NARS liquid liner?
