I had the chance to go to a preview of The Body Shop’s latest skincare release the other week, which was really exciting for me because I’ve loved The Body Shop for years. My first job in the beauty world was at The Body Shop and I worked there for over two years! Then of course I moved to the UK and was transferred to a store here, which was really handy. Life story over, but the point I’m trying to make is that it’s a brand I know well and trust.
I’m sure most of you know Caroline Hirons (read her blog here), skincare expert and the voice of reason to people like me who don’t know enough about what I’m slapping on my face. She’s given me and so many other bloggers amazing recommendations, so I was really excited to see that she was going to be at the preview night giving out some of her golden skincare tips. I’ve often fantasised about what it would be like to be in a room alone with Caroline (getting a skincare consultation of course!!!!) and it lived up to all of my expectations. She gave me lots of skincare tips and we even got on the subject of FISH OIL *gags*. Here we are taking a wee selfie (as you do)! Thanks to Caroline for introducing me to balm cleansers, face oils, and let’s not even get into the stuff I’ve STOPPED using because of her.
Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil-£12.00
The first thing I thought when I saw the product was…”What the hell is a serum-IN-oil?” and all of my questions were answered! It’s pretty much exactly what the name of it says- it is a serum IN an oil so you get the benefits of both products. At the event they were hinting that this is going to be the next skincare craze because it’s one of those products that allows your skin to get everything it needs, but cuts down the steps. I love skincare products, so I’m very used to applying a serum then my oil(s) after, but this promises to do the job of both in one step.
The Body Shop Says:
-8 hours of beauty sleep for your skin
-Skin looks rested, replenished and re-charged
-Non-greasy and fast absorbing
What I Say:
I can definitely see what they mean when they say 8 hours of beauty sleep. It’s really hydrating and I’ve noticed my skin looking more ‘plump’ in the morning. It’s not heavy at all and almost feels like a dry-oil, so it tends to absorb very fast. It has a slight scent to it like the rest of the Vitamin E products and overall I think this is probably the best facial oil I’ve tried in this price range. I almost gasped when they said it cost £12.00 because it feels very similar to some higher end facial oils I have tried. Big thumbs up from me!
Do you think you’ll be giving this one a try? What do you think of the serum-in-oil concept?
Here are Caroline’s thoughts on the new product.
