I often get asked what my favourite foundation is so I thought I’d write up a quick post with my top 5 favourite ones. These are the ones I reach for most often and they’re the ones that reassure me that everything is gonna be alriggghhht. I don’t like anything that feels to heavy on the skin and I always like my freckles shine through! Here we go…
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation
This foundation has officially made it to my number one foundation…ever! It’s my foolproof, failsafe, fixes anything and makes me feel like I have perfect skin…heh…I wish. I think the reason I like it so much is because it reminds me of a combination of the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation (see below) and the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint which gives the skin a matte finish without looking flat. It glides on with ease and looks flawless. It says this is a full coverage foundation, but I’d say it’s more of a medium coverage that you can build up if you need to.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation
When I discovered the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation I thought I died and went to foundation heaven. It feels light on the skin, but evens everything out and because of it’s unique ‘gel’ texture it glides over any dry patches on my skin. The only issue I have with this is that it’s a bit too dark for me in the colder months, but I can still work with it. Fantastic drugstore foundation.
NARS Tinted Moisturiser
Technically this isn’t a foundation, but tinted moisturiser is the same kind of thing isn’t it? I would say I use tinted moisturisers/lighter bases more often than actual foundations because I like to let my skin breathe a little bit! The NARS one is fantastic because it has SPF 30, doesn’t feel greasy at all and still provides enough coverage. This is a great one to wear with a bit of mineral powder over the top.
YSL Youth Liberator Serum Foundation
Oh, this bottle is dreamy isn’t it? I was all kinds of obsessed with this when it first came out and I’m happy to say that I still adore it. Another foundation with the word ‘serum’ in it…are we seeing a trend? This one provides medium to high coverage and I find it’s best applied with a Beauty Blender to create a seamless finish. I love to wear this one when I’m filming because it’s a bit glowy and lasts really well on the skin.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation
I had to mention a mineral foundation of course! I love so many brands of mineral makeup, but this one in particular is great because it’s such a creamy texture. Of course it’s a powder, but when you buff it into the skin (really buff it in there, people), it looks like actual skin. The finish is closer to that of a liquid product and it gives shockingly great coverage. Any redness around my nose, chin etc. disappears with this and the best part is that it feels like I’m wearing nothing at all.
So those are my top 5 foundations! Let me know in the comments below what your favourites are and if you have any recommendations I’d love to hear them!
