hype I love beauty products, so I thought it would be useful if I went through my items that have a lot of hype in the blogging world and tell you which ones I think truly live up to it!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders
I remember being completely infatuated with these when these came out because it was like nothing I’d ever seen. When it’s midnight and you’re googling swatches of face powders it’s a sign of a truly interesting product! The premise of the Ambient Lighting Powders is that they create a soft-focus effect and a diffused ‘photoshopped’ finish to the skin. The shade Diffused Light is my personal favourite because it helps tone down the redness I tend to get, sets my makeup and really does give a unique finish to the skin. I recently hit pan on my powder and it made me so sad! Perfect amount of luminosity..I love it!

Sephora Brushes
We all love Sephora and besides selling lots of my favourite makeup brands they also have a Sephora range of brushes. My first one was a few years ago (Mineral Powder Brush) and it’s still going strong! I also recommend the Pro Airbrush. They’re synthetic, great quality and come in lots of unique sizes and shapes so you’re bound to find one you’re interested in. hype Maybelline Colour Tattoos
I don’t think I could do my makeup without using a cream eyeshadow base. I’m not sure why, but it’s become part of my everyday ritual and they’re really effective at helping shadows last and making the colour appear more pigmented. Bad to the Bronze is a big time favourite of mine because there’s nothing better than a shimmery bronze eyeshadow in my opinion.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector
I’m going to blame the Clarin’s Lip Perfectors for converting me to a lipgloss lover. Before trying these I was completely against lipglosses, but these really are something different. They’re super smooth, lightweight, moisturising and they smell incredible (vanilla). They come in a few colours, but my favourite one is still the rosy shade (it’s always in my handbag).

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
Sick of seeing this everywhere? Well, here it is again. This concealer beats all of the rest for me (and I’ve tried a fair few). Besides the really cool sponge applicator, the formula is incredible. Somehow it’s pigmented enough to cover any dark circles, but the formula isn’t heavy and doesn’t crease like some under eye concealers do. I love it! hype Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
Are you a fan of winged liner? YOU NEED THIS. It’s a highly pigmented liner that lasts longer than any liner I’ve ever tried. It has a unique brush tip so you’re able to get a sharp point even after months of using it.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains
Looking for a grab and go lip product? The Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains (ugh such a long name) are a wonderful option! They come in lots of different colours (my favourite is Honey) and yay they’re from the drugstore. I love lots of the crayon lip product things that became so popular, but I think these are still my favourites. They smell minty, they’re hydrating and last really well on the lips.
hype The Body Shop Honey Bronzer
Surprise, surprise! I absolutely love this bronzer because it’s the perfect balance between warm and cool. It comes in a few shades (I have the lightest one) and I find it easy to work with, blendable and it warms up my face without looking stark. Great one for super fair people like me!hype

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation
The first time I used this foundation I knew I loved it, but it wasn’t until a few months later that I realised it had reached holy grail status. It’s now the foundation I grab when I don’t have time to think about it and I need something that just works. It’s very smooth and moisturising, doesn’t make my skin appear oily and lasts really well throughout the day. Definitely one to try if you’re a foundation addict.

Urban Decay Naked Palettes
Yep, these had to make it into this post. If all of my eyeshadows were taken away from me I think the first thing I’d repurchase would be one of the naked palettes (don’t make me choose between 1&2!!). Urban Decay eyeshadows are ridiculously pigmented and creamy. Inside the palettes you get a variety of neutral shades that would suit pretty much any occasion.

What products do you think live up to the hype?

weekendweekendweekendweekend Weekends seem to fly by these days! Unfortunately, I spent the majority of my weekend organising my bills, receipts and bank statements to prepare for my upcoming application to stay in the UK! Being an adult is fun…not. On the bright side it meant I got to spend all of Sunday in my loungewear and in between printing and stapling I made time for nail painting and beauty book reading.

Neal’s Yard Beauty Book
I was a big fan of the Neal’s Yard Healing Foods book (review here) so the Beauty Book was something I was keen to start reading. Inside you will find homemade beauty product recipes, key ingredients to watch out for and step-by-step guides for pampering techniques such as dry brushing. Really great book if you’re up for some DIY beauty product making!

Essie Sand Tropez
Can’t.stop.wearing.this.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Balm
This is just your average lip balm, but I find it works really well at keeping my lips moisturised without feeling heavy or glossy. It’s a good one to use under lipsticks and for some reason I love the scent even though it doesn’t smell like much of anything (?). Not a super interesting product, but a goodie nonetheless.

First Aid Beauty Hydra-Firm Sleeping Cream
I love moisturising night creams and overnight masks because my skin can wake up looking so dry! This sleeping cream is similar to the Ultra Repair Cream that everyone (including myself) loves and also helps with skin’s elasticity, tone and texture. It’s a very calming product and is free of artificial fragrances. I just mix a bit of this with my Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and head to bed!

Benefit Puff Off!
I love a good gimmick, so when I saw the ‘iron tip’ on Benefit’s new release promises to ‘iron out’ the puffiness and creases under the eyes I was intrigued. It’s a skincare/makeup hybrid, but I would personally say it’s more on the makeup side of the scale (I think of it more as an undereye primer). It has a slightly peach tone which brightens and is reflective without being glittery. I love the metal tip because it feels cooling and does manage to apply the product well. While I think it’s great underneath makeup, I wouldn’t say it’s an everyday product for me. Have you tried this yet?

Aromatherapy Associates Rose Body Velvet
This body cream is exclusive to Liberty in celebration of their 30th anniversary. The packaging is frosted (instantly looks 70% fancier) and when opened your nostrils will be flooded with a beautiful rose, geranium and sandalwood infused body cream. A real treat and the perfect gift for the rose lover in your life!

What did you get up to this weekend? Any interesting beauty products to report back on?

I’ve had a few people tweet me recently saying “HOW DID I NOT KNOW YOU HAD A VLOG CHANNEL!?” and since I don’t usually post my vlogs on my beauty blog I thought I’d do a quick post about the channel! I don’t have a schedule that I stick to, but I try to vlog as often as I can. If you want to see what happens ‘behind the scenes’, come boppin’ around London with me and of course lots of Reggie then…

box box box box You may have seen a few posts about My Little Box floating around the Blogosphere and today I thought I’d post about the ‘Energy’ edition! My Little Box is a little different to other subscription boxes because it includes not only beauty products, but also fashion and lifestyle accessories, illustrated items, a magazine which is really cute and interesting to read!

It come beautifully packaged and I could barely wait to open everything, I stopped myself halfway through to take some photos though! Since it’s the first box of the year the focus was about kickstarting the energy levels and inspiring motivation. Inside I was pleasantly surprised with a gym bag that says ‘good energy is contagious’ which is so true! There was also a calendar with inspirational quotes and adorable designs.

When it comes to beauty products, My Little Box includes items from well known beauty brands but they also have an in-house beauty range which means they create products themselves (in very cute packaging). In this particular box I received an energising face mist which helps refresh the skin (it smells quite light and has vitamin C and green tea inside). The Nails Inc. polish in the shade Tate was included (gorgeous red shade) as well as the Talika Photo-Hydra Day Cream which sells for around £30.00.

Overall I thought this was a great beauty box! I love that they included lifestyle items as well as beauty.
What do you think of My Little Box?

Click here to see what was in previous boxes!
It costs £11.00 per month + £3.95 P&P.
