foundation foundation There’s a new foundation in my life! When I started reading reviews of this foundation I was instantly drawn to it and decided to take a look at it the next time I was in Space NK.

Laura Mercier Flawless Fluide Foundation
I’m all about the lightweight, skin-like foundations and I also love that you have to shake this foundation before use. I know that’s quite weird, but I enjoy that little ritual for some reason. Anyway, the reason you have to shake it up is because it’s a bi-phase formula which means the pigment sits at the bottom of the package and floating at the top is something Laura Mercier calls hydro-brilliant technology (reflective waters).

Unfortunately, I was colour matched to the wrong shade (my fault really, I should have known the order of the shades before I went in) but alas, I bought Ivory. It’s not totally wrong, but it’s just a tad too dark for me, but it goes to show how much I like the foundation because I also got the shade Creme which is much more suitable. I mix the two shades together and it’s the perfect foundation for me, so I’m really happy with that in the end.

For me, this is more of a medium coverage foundation, but can be built up and I would definitely listen to Laura Mercier’s tip and use a sponge or fingers to apply. I always use it with my damp Beauty Blender and the finish is so lovely and natural. The formula itself is quite thin and watery, so I’ve found working in smaller sections works best. After shaking it the foundation tends to get a mind of its own so be prepared that things can get a bit messy!

Overall this foundation gets a big thumbs up from me! I’ve been reaching for it almost everyday since I got it and love its long wearing finish. Great for days you won’t have time to touch up.

pai I don’t like fighting with my skin, but sometimes it goes through a rebellious phase and I have to put it back in its place. As I’ve spoken about recently, my skin has been going through a particularly rough spell and I’m thanking my lucky stars that the Pai Perfect Balance Blemish Serum came into my life when it did. Pai’s skincare is specifically formulated for sensitive and allergy prone skin, so I’m never afraid to use any of their products (they’re are also organic and not tested on animals).

Pai Balance Blemish Serum-Copaiba & Zinc
This serum is for blemish prone, combination, oily skin that is also sensitive. Oh, what an easy skin type to have, huh? Besides all of that my skin also tends to be dehydrated and prone to dryness so I need a miracle. The most impressive thing to note about this serum is the way it almost instantly helped remedy my inflamed, angry skin and bring it back to basics. The zinc in this serum helps reduce congestion and there’s also hyaluronic acid to hydrate.

While my skin is far from perfect this serum has been my best friend and it has taken it from an 8/10 to a 3/10 on the angry scale in approx. 2 weeks, which I think is fantastic. It smells slightly of oats and some sort of cake (just me?) and has a slightly watery consistency. If you’re like me and need something to work from all angles I would highly recommend this serum to you. Pai also has an Instant Calm Redness Serum if you’re looking for something in that category.

Let me know if you had great results with this serum too!
What do you use on your skin when you have a lot of breakouts?

ootd ootd ootd ootd ootd Over the weekend Aslan and I decided to get a head start on some Christmas shopping (although it didn’t go well), so I thought I’d do a post about what I wore! Apologies for the pre-occupied facial expression in the first photo, OOTD’s are not my forté.

Comfort is always the aim of my game, but I still want to look cute so I’ve crossed over to the skort side. I used to hate skorts, but I am definitely a convert now that I’ve realised I should get them from the tall section! I’m 5’2″ (and a half) so I’m definitely not tall, but I find the petite skorts (and skirts for that matter) are a bit too bootylicious for me and the tall ones are the perfect length. Just a little tip for anyone else who has that issue!

I just paired it with some warm tights, black ankle boots from & Other Stories, a black fuzzy jumper from Weekday (similar here) and to toughen it up a bit I put on my favourite leather jacket. Unfortunately this one from Topshop is sold out, but I found a similar-ish one on ASOS.

Luckily it’s not super cold in London right now (really starting to dread the Canadian weather I’m going to face over Christmas), so I was the perfect temperature. I love mixing black and navy, so I think my navy Phillip Lim bag brings out the grey-blue colour in the skort nicely. I definitely didn’t need sunglasses that day, but it’s a habit of mine to add them on top of my head.

How’s your Christmas shopping going? Have you started yet?
