Being invited to go to the Burberry show is going on the list of best things to EVER happen to me. I was so, so excited to attend not only the show, but also to see a preview of the S/S15 beauty collection. To top it all off, Wendy Rowe herself (artistic consultant for Burberry and makeup artist extraordinaire) was the one giving the demo. So there I was, sitting in Burberry HQ witnessing Wendy Rowe do makeup on Flora, one of the most gorgeous people I’ve ever seen. It was all a bit surreal, but enough about my emotions…let’s get onto the makeup!

This show was called The Birds & The Bees, so Wendy was really trying to get that garden, honey glow to the skin which she definitely achieved with the Burberry Fresh Glow Radiance. She then smoothed Burberry BB Cream on top and a touch of the Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation to areas that needed some more coverage. The skin was absolute perfection and when I got home to recreate it I was amazed at how achievable this look really is. Wendy says Burberry is all about makeup that everyone can wear and she’s very conscious of the fact that not everyone has the time or energy to do a complex eyeshadow look. So with that in mind, she used the Burberry Earthy Blush as an eyeshadow, NO mascara (apparently it’s a very modern thing) with some bold brows with their new Effortless Eyebrow Definer, which Wendy said was “MAJOR!” because of its gel formula. And to top it all off she applied the most gorgeous Lipstick called Ruby.

The look is fascinating to me. It combines two things I wouldn’t normally put together: glossy golden-honey skin with a deep (usually glam) red lip. With minimal attention brought to the eye this look was stunning on the catwalk, but is also good enough to pop to the grocery store. I am in love! Being able to see the calm before the storm on a Sunday morning, to the chaos backstage and then to finally see it all come together on the catwalk was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had. Thank you SO much to Burberry for inviting me along for this and I can’t wait to rock this look in the Spring!

Burberry make-up is available from Burberry.com, selected Burberry stores and retailers worldwide.
The new collection will be available from January 2015.

This post is sponsored by Burberry.

How did I go through so much of my life without even knowing what ramen was? I genuinely feel like I can’t live without it now!

So what is ramen? According to Wikipedia, it’s a Japanese soup dish. It consists of noodles, flavoured with soy sauce and with toppings such as seaweed, sliced pork, and/or egg.

There are so many different ways to make ramen and each place I’ve been to in London do things a little bit differently. I’ve tried a lot of ramen and this is by far my favourite although it’s not necessarily the most traditional recipe. It’s an American take on ramen and Aslan likes to refer to it as the fast food of the ramen world (this is a great thing). I remember thinking I wasn’t in Kansas anymore the first time I walked in there because I was faced with blasting rock music and bar stools…not your typical noodle place that’s for sure!

I order the same thing every single time (get ready for it):
-Homemade pickles (holy shizz wow I love pickles so much)
-Edamame beans
-Fried chicken
-T22 (soy based ramen)

Now that’s a lot of food, so I suggest having someone to share all of those starters with. If you think dill pickles are the beginning and end of pickles PLEASE try these pickles. They have pickled carrots, cauliflower, beetroot etc. I wish I could buy a fridge full of these things. Don’t be put off by the menu board that says “cock scratchings”…although it did make me LOL the first time I read it I’ve now realised it’s crunchy chicken skin and “Yes, I do want extra cock scratchings please!”

I’m making it my mission to visit Japan and do a ramen tour, but until then I’ll see you at Bone Daddies. They don’t take reservations, but if you go during the week it shouldn’t be an issue. Take a look at this vlog in which we drop our vlogging camera into a bowl of ramen…and we still love it! If that isn’t commitment, I don’t know what is.

Oh and PS…this isn’t the most graceful meal so perhaps wait for a second or third date to have your ramen experience.

It’s time for a home haul! While in the land of all things Nordic I bought some things that I wanted to share with you! Lots of paper things, TAPE, a candle that smells like a library and some seriously professional sound effects and clip-art along the way. Enjoy!

nordic nordicnordic I spent the majority of August getting in touch with my Nordic side, so I was very excited to see OPI’s latest Nordic nail polish collection. First and foremost I’m going to say that when I first saw the collection I wasn’t exaccctlly sure what was so nordic about these colours, but the names of the polishes would definitely suggest otherwise. I suppose all of the shades are very muted and there are a lot of neutrals so that’s probably the thinking behind it. Any insight?

OPI nail polishes were my first introduction to great quality nail polishes and I remember being treated to a manicure with my mom once and drooooling over the shelf of OPI polishes. Which one to pick…they were all so gorgeous! I’ve always found the formula to be a bit thicker than something like Essie nail polishes (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing) and it should be mentioned that the brush is a wide brush which for me can be a bit tough to use because a few of my nails are teeny-tiny. That being said, the pigment, the application and the lasting power are all spot on. This collection is vibrant without being too bright for Autumn/Winter and I especially like the dark purple shades.

There are 12 nail polishes in the range: (£11.95 each)
Can’t Afjord Not To (coral)
Going My Way or Norway (tan)
How Great is Your Dane? (taupe)
Ice-Bergers and Fries (tan)
Thank Glogg It’s Friday (shimmery cranberry)
With A Nice Finn-Ish (gold)
Do You Have This Colour in Stock-Holm (purple)
My Dogsled Is A Hybrid (mint)
My Voice Is A Little Norse (glitter)
Skating On Thin Iceland (deep purple)
Suzi Has A Swede Tooth (pink)
Viking Vinter Vonderland (deep purple)

If you’re a neutral lover or someone who wants to bring colours into the colder month this collection is for you!
What do you think of the Nordic Collection? What’s your favourite shade?

charlotte charlotte charlotte After my Charlotte Tilbury rave a few weeks ago you won’t be surprised that I am beyond excited about her Matte Revolution Lipsticks. They’re calling this the matte lipstick of the future because it gives you the matte, modern look without the flat and drying formula many matte lipsticks have. Charlotte says she has used powder on top of lipsticks on photoshoots with special lights angled to give it a full, 3D effect. She created this formula to give everyday women the 3D, luminous matte lip without a 20+ person crew!

Enriched with new-generation 3D glowing pigments for lips that look lit-from-within and an optical ‘matte-trick’ to create the appearance of wider, fuller lips.”-Charlotte Tilbury

I really am impressed with this formula because it doesn’t feel like my other matte lipsticks which can take some serious elbow grease to apply, these actually go on like a balm would. They’re full of pigment so you can build up the colour or apply it like a stain which is my preferred method. Like all of Charlotte’s products the packaging is out of this world (love that unique geometric shape). Seriously, sometimes I just go to her makeup counter and lose touch with reality because it’s the stuff of dreams. Charlottes makeup range shows you just how passionate she is about makeup and bringing the luxe experience of beauty products back into the modern world. She also appreciates the fact that everyday women don’t want to be messing around for hours on end and that we LOVE a multi-purpose product!
