I’d originally not been very interested in this concealer when I saw it, but when I was in Canada I decided why the hell not! So, basically, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer says it “instantly erases the appearance of dark circles and fine lines. Visibly diminishes the appearance of puffiness.” Now, I don’t have fine lines or puffiness so I can’t speak to that, but I can tell you about how it applies!
The application itself is really thin. I doubt you can even make out the swatch on my hand, but that’s what it looks like after about three or four swipes. I have the shade Fair. I can see people with more mature skin liking this because it’s not going to settle into any lines around the eyes as much as something a bit thicker.
In fact, my mom told me that she’s actually given up on concealer because it just makes her look more tired! This could really work for that reason and let’s be honest-this concealer wasn’t designed for a 21-year-old. If you have dark circles (like me), I don’t think this is going to be your ideal concealer.
The first time I used this, I was a big fan of the brush applicator. It just kind of glides on and helps smooth out the concealer. After about 4 days of using Instant Age Rewind, I found that not as much product was being dispensed and I was pressing harder and harder on my skin to get more concealer out. It’s not ideal if you’re in a hurry and it’s also not good for the tenderoni skin around the eyes and let’s not go into the hygiene subject.
That being said, a good wash every now and then would take care of that problem I guess.
BUT-who can be bothered!?
As far as the color goes, I actually love the color! It’s *slightly* pink toned which helps to cancel out any blue under the eyes, but not so pink that it becomes noticeably different than the rest of my skin.
Overall, I do like the concealer but it’s not going to be the one I reach for after a long night. It will most likely suit more mature eyes with minimal dark circles.
