I was scared of this product for a very, very long time. When I finally got the courage to try it, I woke up the next morning to bumpy, red, irritated and itchy skin. I was convinced THIS was the culprit. I vowed never to use it again, but it turns out it wasn’t the Alpha H Liquid Gold that gave me the reaction. I still can’t pinpoint what it was, but I suppose it doesn’t matter. I decided to give it one more try a few weeks ago and I’ve been incredibly pleased with the results. I was expecting miracles from this product because there is SO MUCH HYPE around it, but I didn’t get miracles. I did, however, see reduced redness, improved texture and fewer blackheads (which is my real issue these days *sigh*) …so I guess that’s kind of miraculous!?
Alpha-H Liquid Gold
Alpha-H Liquid Gold is a silky night serum which is instantly absorbed by cell membranes, restoring a golden glow too even the most lack-luster skin. Revitalizing and firming in just one application, this lotion helps tackle hyper-pigmentation, acne, fine lines, and large pores, reversing some of the symptoms of aging and sun damage-like having a facial in your sleep.”
Now, Glycolic Acid sounds rather scary. Liquid Gold contains 5% Glycolic Acid so I’m going to do my best at attempting to explain what it is and how it works. Glycolic Acid is what is known as a “chemical exfoliant” which is different from a “physical exfoliant” such as a face scrub with beads in it. It effectively “dissolves” dead skin cells in a really gentle way (I personally find my skin to be less irritated by chemical exfoliants than physical ones). It does make my face tingle, but nothing uncomfortable.
Liquid Gold is a clear, watery texture (like a toner) that I apply to my skin 2-3 times a week. I apply it to a regular cotton pad and smooth it over cleansed, damp skin. You can apply a serum or moisturizer on top or just end your skincare routine without a night cream for a more intensive treatment.
As I said earlier in the post, I have indeed seen results. I have major problems with acne scars. I don’t get a lot of spots, but the ones I do get like to leave a dark patch behind which is REALLY annoying and can be quite difficult to cover up. After a few weeks of using this product, I’ve noticed that the dark marks have drastically reduced in pigmentation. My skin does look brighter than it did prior to use and the overall texture of my skin is much smoother. I still use my Clarisonic about twice a week on the days when I don’t use Liquid Gold.
