One of the best known K-Beauty brands in the US has to be Dr. Jart. Aside from the fact that they’re widely found at Sephora, they create innovative masks, serums and skincare unlike anything else. Their Tiger Grass Cicapair line is a dream for redness prone skin and changes colors to correct redness. Their acne and blemish spots can remove any trace of a pimple after one, single use. They win for innovations and uniqueness, so can we count on them to be cruelty-free and vegan?

No, Dr. Jart is not cruelty-free as they are sold in Mainland China. In Mainland China, all brands sold there are required to give samples of their products for post-market, 3rd party testing. Most K-beauty brands are sold in China which is why they’re aren’t many cruelty-free ones. Unfortunately when a brand tests on animals, this affects their vegan status as well. Dr. Jart is not vegan or cruelty-free.

Dr. Jart offers complex formulas with great innovations that you can’t find anywhere else. They don’t use parabens or phthalates which is another win. But, their biggest shortcoming is that they aren’t cruelty-free or vegan. It’s a shame because their innovations make them quite hard to dupe!
