Revlon One-Step Review: A Killer Hot Airbrush, Hair dryer, and Volumizer

If you feel that you could never ace a stunning at-home blowout despite using the best hair dryer, tools, and hair smoothing products, you’re not alone! Most women end up creating frizz in their hair or their arm muscles give up mid-process. But, all hope is not lost as there is a perfect styling tool out there that can end all your blow-drying woes!

The Revlon One-Step hot airbrush has been a total game-changer ever since it was introduced. This hair drying brush is the quintessential styling tool that every woman dreams of. It combines the work of a round brush and a hair dryer to give your hair a foolproof blowout.

Even though this hair styling tool has been receiving raving reviews, I wanted to try it out myself to see if it was that incredible. Turns out, it is! In this article, I’m going to do an in-depth review of this star product so you can learn more about what it has to offer. Let’s get started.

Pros and Cons

Things I liked:

  • Unlike most straighteners or blow-dryers, it’s shaped like a round brush so it’s very convenient to use.
  • The heat is evenly distributed throughout the brush
  • The unique oval design of the brush helps add that extra life to the roots and bounce to the ends and your hairs do not fall flat.

Things I didn’t like:

Well, I’ll be honest: I couldn’t find any major problem with this amazing hot airbrush. Of course, it does expose your hair to heat (though less damaging than hair straighteners) so you should not overuse it. The high setting can be too powerful for fine hair.

Also, don’t try using it on wet hair! It increased the likelihood of damage when you use it on wet hair and the results are not that great either. Let your hair air dry first or use a microfiber towel to dry it so they are only damp when you use the hot airbrush.

Features of the Revlon One-Step Hairdryer and Volumizer Hot Airbrush

Let’s have a look at some of the Revlon One-step’s features.

Unique Oval Design Brush Head

The oval shape allows for two different types of brushes to work together at the same time. While the rounded corners lift hair from the roots and give your hair a good bounce, the flat side of the brush acts like a hair-straightening paddle brush.

Two Types of Bristles

The magic of this hair drying brush is in its shape and bristle design. Ball-tipped nylon bristles cover the flatter sides of the brush while the curved edges have nylon boar hair bristles. This gives the benefit of two kinds of bristles at the same time.

Also, the brush surface is coated with ceramic that protects your hair from extensive damage and distributes heat evenly.

Air Flow Vents

The air vents are very efficient in dispersing heated air quickly and evenly, making this tool perfect even for dense curls. This also makes the tool super fast. It takes me 15 minutes to style my long and curly hair with this hot airbrush. And my hair looks like I have come out of the salon!

Ionic Technology

While drying your hair, it releases negative ions to help maintain a neutral charge on your hair shafts. In the end, your hair looks super smooth, shiny, conditioned and free from frizz and static.

Lightweight and Easy-to-Handle

Before using this airbrush, I used to dread blow-drying my hair holding a round brush and a dryer. It was almost like a workout session for my arms. This product is super easy to hold as its lightweight and provides comfort and ease of use. Moreover, its swivel cord is 6 feet long and tangle-free.

Is the Revlon One-Step Good?

I am hooked on the Revlon hot airbrush ever since it came into my life. It has made hairstyling super easy and hassle-free. I would rate it highly on all its features and offerings. Overall it’s a 4.5/5 for me.

Here’s the breakdown.

Ease of Use – 4.5 / 5

The hot airbrush is lightweight and easy to hold. The flexible swivel cord doesn’t annoy you while you’re blow-drying your hair. You need to plug the tool and choose from one of the three heat settings. It follows the US safety requirements for blow dryers and has the ETL certification seal as well.

However, there’s no auto-shutoff feature. Though, there are far fewer chances that anyone would forget to switch off a hair dryer as compared to a hair straightener.

Heat Settings – 4.5 / 5

There are two heat/speed settings (high and low) along with a ‘cool’ option. High setting might be a little too powerful if you have fine hair. Some users with very thin and fragile hair find the ‘low’ setting to be strong for their hair type.

Value for Money – 5/5

The best part about this hair styling tool is that it’s super affordable compared to other branded hot airbrushes. Its high-quality features and built make it worth every single penny.

Power – 4 /5

This unit is designed for 120 Volt outlets in the USA. You cannot use it on any other outlet. Using a voltage converter can damage your dryer.

Warranty – 5 / 5

The Revlon One-Step Hair dryer and Volumizer brush comes with a 4-year warranty, which is great. Some users on Amazon have reported problems with their tools. However, they got a new product sent to them upon getting in touch with the manufacturer.

Revlon One-Step Review

The Revlon One-Step hair dryer and volumizer is a dream come true for women who need a quick and easy-to-use hairstyling tool. It does the job of a hair dryer and a styler and leaves your hair looking smooth, shiny and full of volume.

The ergonomic design and swivel cord make its usage hassle-free. The high and low heat/speed settings are suitable for most hair types to get nicely groomed bouncy hair in one go. You need to section your hair according to your density and you will be done in a few minutes.

Even though the tool works amazingly on my hair, it’s not going to have great results on very thin hair. Thin hair will also be more prone to damage. Moreover, the brush is quite large and wouldn’t work for women with very short hair.

Because there is heat involved, I would always recommend not to overuse it and don’t forget to apply a heat-resistant serum before use. If you have wet hair, you should wait for them to get damp first before using the tool.

Overall, this hot airbrush is a great tool and I love it for making my morning hairstyling so much more convenient.

How Does The Revlon One-Step Compare?

Here’s how the Revlon One-Step Hairdryer and Volumizer compares with other products.

Revlon One-Step vs. Drybar The Double Shot

Drybar The Double Shot Blow-Dryer Brush

Combines the hot air of a blow-dryer with the structure of a round brush to create a smooth, shiny blowout with tons of volume in one quick, simple step.

These two hair tools are the top favorites for most hairstyling lovers. They also look very similar except that the Drybar The Double Shot hot airbrush comes in a neon yellow color. The functioning of both tools is more or less the same.

If we look at the technical features, Drybar Double Shot does have more even heat distribution and it doesn’t get as hot as the Revlon dryer. This might be important for people with very thin or damaged.

However, both the tools give comparable results as far as shine and volume are concerned. Although the Drybar Double Shot airbrush is priced twice as high as the Revlon hair dryer.

Revlon One-Step vs. HOT TOOLS Professional 24K One Step

HOT TOOLS Professional 24K Gold One Step Dryer

This hair dryer helps maintain a neutral charge on your hair’s surface, leaving your hair looking conditioned and smooth, while helping reduce frizz and static for shiny, healthy-looking hair.

When compared with the Revlon One-Step hairdryer, the Hot Tools Hairdryer Brush might not be able to match the final shiny and voluminous look that comes with Revlon. It’s also not the best hot airbrushes for very long hair. Revlon also wins as far as the price points are concerned.

Revlon One-Step vs. Conair Spin Airbrush

Conair InfinitiPRO Spin Hot Air Brush

This unique brush rotates in both directions to maximize volume and curls, and generates concentrated ions to reduce frizz and add luster.

If you compare these two, both Conair and Revlon have their own set of pros and cons. The Conair Spin brush comes with a detachable and rotating brush head. The rotating action makes it even easier to dry and style your hair. It’s also easy to remove and clean the brush head.

While the Revlon may not have a spinning action, its unique oval-shaped brush head and two types of bristles make it very effective. Conair Spin brush only features nylon bristles without cool tips.

From the price point of view, both the hair tools are comparable, with the Revlon One-step blow dryer being slightly high in price.
