Soap and Glory XXL Lip Plumper Gloss Review

Lip filler is definitely a hot trend right now that everyone is doing to achieve a plumper pout. I dare you to scroll through Instagram without seeing an Instagram model with plump, pouty and even unnatural looking lips. But getting filler is expensive and it’s a lot of commitment, especially for a trend. If you want to get the look of plumper lips without paying filler prices, try a lip plumper!

Soap and Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker XXL Lip Plumping Gloss is a great way to achieve the look of fuller lips without breaking the bank or doing anything permanent. This lip plumper, gloss hydrates the lips while plumping and smoothing fine lines. It’s not for the faint of heart and you’ll feel a tingle – sort of like pins and needles. But, this lip plumper is affordable and it will give your lips a subtle boost and lift.

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL Plumping Gloss

This lip plumper works to hydrate and plump the lips while wearing like a shiny gloss. If you do not like lip plumpers that tingle, this lip plumper is not for you. There is a ton of tingle! It’s not painful but it feels like pins and needles on your lips with cooling and warm sensations, so more uncomfortable. After about 15 minutes, the tingling subsides.

Does it work? Yes, but my lips didn’t get as big as I expected them to. Especially given how strong the tingle was.

It’s not a huge difference but it smoothes the lines on your lips which helps your lipstick to look better. If you have small lips, it’s not going to make you look like you just got your lips filled. It’s relative to the size of your lips but it definitely plumps within reason. This lip plumper contains Soap and Glory’s 3XL Peptide Complex to increase the levels of hyaluronic acid and supports fat cells to keep your lips hydrated and plump.

I would say it starts working once you apply it and you can see the full results after about 10-15 minutes when the tingling subsides. It wears on the lips for about an hour or two and the plumpness remains as it wears off which is really nice. It’s not a huge difference but it gives a subtle boost of volume.

Packaging wise, the gloss comes with a plastic squeeze applicator for quick application. The packaging is cute but this gloss isn’t the most luxury or aesthetic looking. For a drug store lip plumper, it’s a good option with okay packaging and pretty shades!

Pros:

  • Comes in 5 shades to choose from!
  • This really does plump the lips. It’ll give your lips a boost in a natural way.
  • This lip plumper works pretty quickly — it’ll start to work as soon as you apply. It takes 15 minutes to see the full results.
  • Functions as a hydrating gloss that can be worn alone or with lipstick.
  • Affordable and easily accessed.
  • Contains natural lip flower oil infusion for hydrating and moisturizing the lips. It really does make the lips feel hydrated, even after it has worn off.
  • The plumping lasts after the gloss has worn off which is very nice.
  • Gloss looks gorgeous on the lips.

Cons:

  • This has a weird, sweet scent that’s not very pleasant.
  • Gives pins and needles, tingling sensation for about 15 minutes. It’s not a light and comfortable lip plumper.
  • This is a sticky gloss.
  • This promises 3XL lip growth and that’s a stretch. This lip plumper gives a subtle boost. I expected much more plumping for how much it tingles.

Final Thoughts

Lip plumper is a great way to add a little volume to your lips with minimal effort, funds and commitment. But, a lip plumper can only add so much volume to your lips. It works with what you have and gives a subtle boost. If you have thin lips and want huge plump ones, that’s going to take the work of filler, not a plumper.

Soap and Glory’s XXL Lip Plumper is an affordable option that will minimally plump your lips with a lot of tingles. The tingle makes it feel like it’s working, but, for how much it tingled, I expected way more plumping! My lips didn’t look much plumper than usual – maybe just with fewer lines. This Soap and Glory Lip Plumper is good for the price but it’s not amazing. If you’re seriously looking at lip plumper as an alternative to lip filler, I’d say there are better options out there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of lip liner should I use to make my lips look bigger?

Go for a darker liner and a lighter lip color. Darker meaning around 2-3 shades. No need to go for a dark brown or even black to outline your lips. Just a subtle contrast helps to create the illusion of a plumper looking lip.

Make sure to blend the darker light with the lighter lipstick so it blends together rather than looking like an outline. Applying lip plumper overtop is the cherry on top for creating your plumpest pout.

How often do I need to reapply this?

Once the gloss wears off, the plump look still lingers for a bit. So I don’t think this is a gloss you need to reapply hourly — the plumping may even irritate your skin. Stick to every few hours and maybe bring another gloss with you to apply in between. The plumping feeling is sort of uncomfortable so I don’t think it is a product you’ll find yourself reapplying like a chapstick.

The plumping lasts once the gloss wears off so don’t think you need to reapply every hour to keep your lips plump.

Is Soap and Glory cruelty-free and vegan?

Soap and Glory falls into the grey zone because they claim to be cruelty-free but don’t have anything to back it up. Meaning, they don’t have a PETA or Leaping Bunny certification. They also claim to be cruelty-free but share in their statement share that they, “can’t say that each and every ingredient that goes into [their formulations] has not, at some point historically, been cleared for human use, by animal testing.”

So, if you’re cruelty-free with your beauty products, you may want to steer clear of Soap and Glory. It’s up to your discretion but if you’re looking for a cruelty-free lip plumper, NYX has one and it’s PETA cruelty-free approved. Along with Kim Chi Chic Beauty which is Leaping Bunny approved. And can’t forget Too Faced’s iconic Lip Injections lip plumper which is cruelty-free, Leaping Bunny and PETA certified!
